There was a pastor was talking about sheep a few Sundays ago and how he wasn’t all that happy that scripture refers to you and me as that part of the animal kingdom.
You know sheep are not the brightest animals.
They have no protective mechanism.
You scare them and they’ll scatter.
They’ll eat just about anything that’s green.
And when a predator comes, it’s easy pickings.
Except when the sheep have a shepherd.
Someone to guide them to good pastures.
Someone to protect them from hungry wolves.
Someone who knows how weak they are, who knows how much they need water and green pastures.
In fact, that pastor said he can measure his fear level about life, about ministry, about the past and the future, by how close or far away from the Good Shepherd he is.
How about you?
Are you afraid today?
Are you troubled about some aspect of your life that seems a little out of control? Have you checked with your shepherd and stayed close to him?
If not, now would be a great time to do that.
